BTW, this is from the Beyonce documentary, and it is also my whole life at the moment. I spent a LONG TIME being polite, partially because I am used to abusive situations in which being diplomatic and Very Polite (in regards to white US culture) was how I escaped being hurt.
I still struggle with it sometimes, with being not-polite in order to get essential things I need to live or with communicating adequately with the people around me. It’s harder than one might think.
